Is Jesus the true Messiah?
The question as to whether Jesus is the Messiah or not is a subject of much controversy. Many scholars have written on this important subject matter, some have argued extensively for and others have argued against the claim that Jesus is the Messiah. Many people came and made claims to be the promised Messiah, but all turned out to be a lie. None of them fits the description of the Messiah as revealed in the holy scriptures. For a claim to be substantiated, the person must be a able to fulfill the numerous prophecies respecting the Messiah. All those that came before the true Messiah, it was evident that they were nothing but false Messiah's. There is only one Messiah who truly came and fulfilled the countless prophecies about himself. Who is he, someone might ask? I encourage you to carefully read through this article, as I argue for the case of the one true Messiah who fulfilled the countless prophecies
Prophecies about the Messiah
It was prophesied that the Messiah will crush the head of the serpent (Genesis 3; 15) he will be a seed of Abraham through whom the nations of the world will be blessed, see (Genesis 12; 3). He will be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7; 14), he will descend from the tribe of Judah (Micah 5; 2, Genesis 49; 10). He will be a prophet like unto Moses (Deuteronomy 18; 18) and will be a priest after the order of Melchizedek (Psalm 110; 4) and a king (2 Samuel 7; 14, Genesis 49; 10, Isaiah 11; 1-5). He will heal all manner of sicknesses and diseases (Isaiah 35; 5-6). He will be preceded by an harbinger who will pave the way for his coming (Malachi 3; 1, Isaiah 40; 3). He will be despised and rejected of men (Isaiah 53: 3), he will be pierced through for our transgressions (Isaiah 53; 5, Zechariah 12; 10). He will be led as a Lamb to the slaughter and yet will not open his mouth (Isaiah 53; 7). He will be cut off from the land of the living, signifying his death on behalf of his people (Isaiah 53; 8). He will be buried in a rich man grave (Isaiah 53; 9). He will not remain in the grave for long, but will resurrect from the dead (Psalm 16; 10). He will be exalted to seat at the right hand of the father, see (Psalm 110; 1). These are some of the prophecies concerning the Messiah which none could fulfill save one Man
Jesus is the true Messiah
The Hebrew translation of "Messiah" is "Mashiach" which literally means the "anointed one". The Greek translation is "Christos" which means the "chosen one or the anointed one". When Christians refer to him as Jesus Christ, we mean Jesus the Messiah, Christ is his title. Jesus is the chosen one, the one prophesied to bring salvation to his people through the sacrifice of himself, and the people waited earnestly for him, and he came to them just as the prophets had prophesied. Jesus Christ is the only one who perfectly fits the description of the Messiah (Matthew 1; 16). Jesus in his death crushed the head of the serpent which signifies his complete victory over sin, Satan and the world. Jesus came as the son of Abraham and whoever that believes in him will be blessed with the benefits of his salvific work (Galatians 3; 8-9). Jesus was conceived by the Spirit of God and was born of the virgin Mary, see (Matthew 1; 18-25).
The Man Jesus Christ sprouted from the tribe of Judah, see (Matthew 1; 1-6). Jesus referred to himself as a prophet (Matthew 13; 57) and others referred to him as that prophet whom Moses prophesied about, see (John 7; 40). Apostle Peter by the Spirit referred to him as the prophet like unto Moses, see (Acts 3; 22). But Jesus is greater than Moses, for he is God in human flesh. Jesus was also a priest, but not after the order of Levi, because he did not descend from the tribe of Levi. He was from the tribe of Judah, so how could he be a Priest? Jesus actually became a priest, not after the succession of Levi, but after the similitude of Melchizedek, see (Hebrews 5; 10). As a priest, he offered himself for our salvation, so we could be saved. Jesus on earth was a king, see (Matthew 2; 2), but his kingdom was not of this world, his kingdom was purely spiritual, see also (John 18; 33-36).
But he reigns as king in the hearts of his people. The time is coming when he will establish his kingdom on earth and will reign as king on earth, see (Zechariah 14). It is ubiquitous in the entire gospels how Jesus healed all manner of sicknesses and diseases (Matthew 4; 23-25). Before Jesus the Messiah will begin his public ministry, he was preceded by his harbinger in the person of John the Baptist in fulfillment of the prophecy of Malachi and Isaiah. The prophecy of Isaiah in Isaiah 53, was literally fulfilled in the suffering, death, burial and bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15; 1-4). After he completed the work of our salvation, he was highly exalted to seat at the right hand of the father, see (Hebrews 1; 3). Jesus is the Messiah whom the prophets prophesied will come and he came to fulfill all those prophecies (Luke 24; 44). But unfortunately when their Messiah came, what did they do to him? They rejected him, because they wanted a political Messiah who will establish his kingdom and would set them free from the Romans (Luke 19; 11). But Jesus came primarily to set them free not from the Roman yoke, but from sin and it's eternal penalty.
Salvation can only be found in Jesus the Messiah
The bible says: He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name (John 1; 11-12). Whoever that will trust in Jesus the Messiah for salvation will be saved and be reckoned as a child of God. Jesus fulfilled the Messianic prophecies about his coming, suffering, death and resurrection which is an indubitable proof that he is able to freely bestow the blessing of salvation to whoever that believes in him. Do not be like the unbelieving Jews who rejected her Messiah and have perished. Peradventure, if you have not trusted in Jesus the Messiah for salvation, then I entreat you to call on his name in truth and you shall be saved. God bless you
